What are the Negatives of Having Wavefront Lasik?

Since we have identified the positives associated with wavefront Lasik, it is only fair that we address the negatives of this procedure in order to produce a balanced assessment.

So far, the biggest drawback of this procedure is the cost. When compared to the traditional Lasik method, wavefront Lasik is significantly more expensive. This is for numerous reasons. First, since the surgery requires more of the surgeon’s time, it costs more. Second, since this is a new technology, this type of Lasik equipment is more expensive than traditional Lasik equipment. Third, each time a surgeon uses the equipment, they are obligated to pay a royalty fee to the manufacturer. Other than cost, there really aren’t any other negatives.
